2013-14 Season 75% Complete & League Secretary News

Both division tables are looking very similar to those at the turn of the year but with the last quarter of the season approaching, both league leaders’ 100% records have been lost. Premier Division leaders County Cons suffered back-to-back losses against Penarth Road B and defending Champions Savoy. Their six point lead at the start of 2014 have now been halved with Savoy in second place. However, it is a thee horse race for the title as Penarth Road B are only a further one point behind. Trailing County by 9 points coming into January, an undefeated league run in 2014 have allowed them to catch and set up what seems another tense finish to the season with only 4 league games remaining. Cuesaders remain at the top of Division One with their big lead intact despite suffering their first defeats. Park Club and Senghenydd are 9 and 14 points behind respectively with the Valleys team having the advantage of a game in hand.
The preliminary and Last-16 rounds of the Interdivisional Handicap Cup have been contested with five Division One teams advancing to the quarter-finals to Premier Division’s three. In the round of 16 an amazing 6 matches went down to deciding frames. Pick of the bunch in the quarter-finals is a repeat of last years final County Cons v Cathays Cons. The Quarter-finals will be played on Thursday 3rd March, Semi-finals on Thursday 27th March and the Final will be at Llandaff Institute on 17th April.
Finally, it has been announced that League Secretary Ben Chung will be leaving the post at the end of the season.
