Amazing end to the season as County and Penarth rd B finish level and face play-off

The Premier League title wasn’t, as expected, settled last week as County Cons and Penarth rd B finished level on points and frames won after a tense night of snooker. It all means that they will have a one match play-off this week to settle the Premier League title race.

County entered the last set of matches one point behind but were boosted by facing a Mack Thursday team short of a player. Things went their way even further as Hewitt and Symmons won the first two frames against Penarth Road, in effect meaning that PR had to win 3-2 to have a chance of staying in the race. In the other match, a win by the in-form Huw Carpenter against County’s Darran Jones was to prove crucial – a whitewash for County would have proved enough at the end of the night.

Penarth rd drew it back to 2-2 then simultaneously Twm Jones beat Steve Wellbeloved to complete their comeback whilst Kevin Brown did enough to overcome Ryan Thomas in a long frame to secure County’s 4-1 win and match the Penarth Rd points tally.

The play-off takes place at Taffs Well at 7.30pm on Thursday night and I’m sure the players would welcome a good crowd – good luck all.
