Taff’s Well are the Division One Cup winners after winning an entertaining final 3-2 against Canton Libs Z. Paul Chichester gave Canton the early initiative beating Ron Davies thanks to a 31 break. Taff’s Well levelled things up in the second after Steve Rees beat Roger Lewis, but Canton regained the lead in the next, with Bill Bainton overcoming Richard O’Shea. However, a win for Alex Merchant over Simon Parker set up a great deciding frame between the division’s two best players Kevin Jones and Rob Richards, and it was Jones who won a very good frame to clinch another comeback for Taff’s Well and seal the title.
