The top 4 teams in the Premier League all recorded big wins this week to establish themselves at the top of the table. They are led by the Mackintosh who continued their unbeaten start to the season with an impressive 5-0 victory over Cuesaders, whilst the only other team to yet taste defeat are the champions Taff’s Well B after they matched that result with a whitewash away to South Wales Snooker.

Savoy A and Canton Libs A make up the quadrumvirate at the top after they both bounced back from defeats in their previous league matches. Savoy A swiftly dispatched Canton Libs Z 5-0, whilst Canton Libs A won 4-1 against Savoy B, with Kishan Hirani maintaining his 100% start to the season thanks to a fine 88 break.

The other matches this week were all close affairs, with Cathays Cons recording their first win of the season by beating Rumney British Legion 3-2 and Park Club winning by the same scoreline away to Canton Libs B, who stay in fifth despite that defeat. There was also a very close game at Taff’s Well, as the A team lost narrowly 3-2 to Senghenydd, who now move above them into a share of 6th place.

With only 3 points separating these top 4 teams, it’s already looking like a close battle is in store for the title this year, whilst the amount of close matches so far shows how unpredictable this season is likely to be!
