Canton Libs A are the league leaders for the first time since Week 6 after the Mackintosh lost their second match in three weeks to slip to second place thanks to a 3-2 home defeat to Cuesaders. Canton took full advantage as they won 5-0 away to Savoy B to move one point ahead of their title rivals, with Kishan Hirani and Ed Topham maintaining their outstanding form at the top of the individual rankings. The Mackintosh are now level in second place with Taff’s Well B after they beat South Wales Snooker 5-0, meaning the top 3 teams are locked in a tense title battle with nine games remaining.

Savoy A and Senghenydd continue their battle for fourth place, although the Barry side must be rueing their no-show a few weeks ago against Canton Libs B, as they would surely be very close to the leaders without it after a 4-1 win away to Canton Libs Z. Senghenydd are still only 4 points behind after they matched that result at home to Taff’s Well A with Mike Boucher winning to keep his place in the rankings list.

Elsewhere there was a welcome win for Park Club who overcame Canton Libs B 4-1, and Cathays Cons kept up their impressive recent form with a commanding 4-1 win away to Rumney British Legion, whose winless streak continues.
