Hirani Reigns Supreme!

Kishan Hirani has capped off an outstanding season by regaining the Cardiff Open title by beating the reigning champion Ryan Rowlands 4-2 in an excellent final at Taff’s Well Ex-Serviceman’s Club.

The two youngsters have shared the title over the previous four years and Hirani started strongly by winning the opening frame, before clinching the second with a 60 break. The match looked like it was going to be a whitewash when Hirani won frame three, but Rowlands showed why he won the title last year by pulling one back in the fourth frame. He then followed this up with a superb 71 break in the fifth to close the gap to 3-2.

A deciding frame was on the cards when Rowlands got in first in the next frame and went 40 up, but he jawed a black which flew off the table when close to clinching it. However, no-one watching could have predicted what happened next as Hirani potted an amazing long red and produced a 56 clearance to win the frame and seal the victory in a superb advert for the Cardiff and District Snooker Association.
