Savoy are now firm favourites to retain their Premier League title after a decisive 4-1 win at home to Taff’s Well B extended their lead at the top of the table. Taff’s Well did take an early lead with Macauley Cole beating Colin Lane before Sam Thomas levelled things in the next thanks to an outstanding 51 break, which featured some sensational positional play and potting when the balls weren’t straightforward. Mark Bennett then consolidated their lead and showed the ability the champions have with a flawless 62 break to make it 2-1. Savoy then won a close frame to seal the victory before Ryan Rowlands won a crucial final frame on the black after a fluke on the pink to complete a 4-1 win.

Mackintosh made sure that the race will continue to go down to the wire though with a 3-2 win over Fairwater Cons, with Jason Hewitt and Alan Hurley once again laying the foundations of the victory with 40 and 59 breaks respectively. They are only 2 points behind Savoy, but they have played a game more with a bye week for them on the final Thursday of the league season.

Mackies Lost Boys backed up their fine form in the Plate and celebrated their third league win of the season with a surprise 3-2 win against Division One leaders Canton Libs B, whose lead was cut at the top after Canton Libs Z defeated Senghenydd by the same scoreline.

Cathays Cons registered the only whitewash of the week with a 5-0 win over Trecenydd, whilst Rumney British Legion got back to winning ways with a 4-1 victory at home to Cuesaders.
