Fairwater Cons are back on top of the Premier League after a decisive 4-1 away win at Senghenydd in the last round of matches until the Christmas break. Steve Flanagan’s side victory was their fourth in a row and their ninth in ten matches to move two points clear, and indicates the strength of their squad as we enter the second half of the league season.

In arguably the match of the season so far, the champions Savoy remain in the title race with a 3-2 win against Mackintosh to close the gap on Ronnie Allen’s team to two points. The top two in the individual rankings went head-to-head in the first, with Sam Thomas maintaining his 100% record in a classic frame against Jason Hewitt that was sealed on the black. Mark Bennett then made it 2-0, but Mackintosh hit back in another excellent frame with Khurram Khan edging past Colin Lane to make it 2-1, with the last two frames being shared to give Savoy a vital win in the race for the Premier League title.

Cathays Cons strengthened their grip on fourth place with a 3-2 win at Trecenydd Snooker, with Dylan Emery showing outstanding consistency with a 64 break to get Michelle Emery’s side off to a flying start, but Jasper Richards’ side hit back to win three of the remaining four frames to seal the victory.

Canton Libs Z look favourites to win Division One after a 4-1 against Rumney British Legion put them eight points clear of second-placed Senghenydd, whilst Cuesaders overcame Llandaff Warriors by the same scoreline. Taff’s Well won 4-1 against Canton Libs B in a match that was closer than the scoreline suggests, which leaves James Wigmore’s side one point adrift in the battle avoid the drop into Division One.
