Fairwater Cons won the huge match at the top of the Premier League this week with a 3-2 win at home to champions Savoy. The first two frames were shared with wins for Twm Jones (36 break) and Sam Thomas (46 break) before Ben Griffiths won the pivotal frame by beating Mark Bennett. Savoy levelled things up after Kyle Patterson beat Steffan Davies, before Luke Pitman won the decider to give Fairwater the victory and pull 6 points ahead of one of the biggest title rivals.

Mackintosh are Fairwater’s closest challengers after they bounced back from defeat in their last league game with a 3-2 win over Division One leaders Canton Libs Z. Wins for Jason Hewitt, Alan Hurley and Ronnie Allen secured the win, with Paul Chichester and Ralph Welch winning for Canton.

Senghenydd took advantage of Canton’s slip-up to close the gap at the top of Division One to 6 points after winning 3-2 at Cuesaders, whilst Cathays Cons beat Llandaff Warriors by the same scoreline.

The race to avoid relegation from the Premier League looks like it’s going to go all the way as Canton Libs B and Taff’s Well matched each other’s 4-1 wins against an under-strength Trecenydd Snooker and Rumney British Legion respectively.
