Tomkins reaches another Cardiff Open final; Open Pairs finalists confirmed #penarth #snooker
The final of the Cardiff Open will be an all-Penarth Legion affair as Neil Tomkins last night reached his 4th final in 5 years with a 3-1 semi-final win over 2009 champion Spencer Symmons. The final will be played in the next two weeks and Neil, chasing his 4th title, will be up against team-mate and current Newport champion Alun Squire.
The finalists for the Open Pairs are also confirmed after Kevin Jones and Steve Rees (Taffs Well) and Mark Bennett and Lee Greening (Savoy) won their semi-finals against, respectively, Tomkins and Glyn Jones and Kishan Hirani and Steve Flanagan.

Congratulations to Alun Squire who reached his first Cardiff Open final this week with a 3-0 win over Tom Cross, in 3 black ball frames. Alun is already Newport champion so will be seeking an impressive double against either team-mate Neil Tomkins or Spencer Symmons in the final.
Travis Furnish reaches Cardiff Handicap final as comps reach the latter stages #cardiff #snooker
The Cardiff Open, Open Pairs, and Handicap Pairs are now at the semi-final stage. Full details of the semi-finalists can be found at the links on the left hand side. The Handicap Singles is still technically at the quarter-final stage but congratulations go to Travis Furnish who has reached the final of the competition at his first attempt after beating Kishan Hirani in the quarter-finals and then, on Tuesday, beating James Facey in the semi-finals.
Next matches are due to be played by May 20th. Singles semi-finals are best of 5 and pairs semi-finals are best of 3. I’ll keep you up to date as matches are played.

Spencer Symmons reached another Cardiff Open semi-final last night as he beat Travis Furnish 2-0 in the quarter-finals. He will play 3 times champion Neil Tomkins in the semi-finals, whilst in the other tie Tom Cross and Alun Squire will both be trying to reach their first Open final.
Well done to Penarth players Neil and Alun who reached the final of the Welsh pairs, but couldn’t quite take the title after losing 4-3 from 3-0 up against John Bevan and David Hard
Wilson hits 138 break as competition rounds come to an end #cardiff #snooker
This month’s competition rounds came to a spectacular end as Daryl Wilson made a 138 break in beating team-mate Robert Evans in the Cardiff Handicap. It is one of the highest breaks in the recent history of the league.
The deadline for the last rounds has now passed and the next matches must be played by April 20.
