Penarth Road shock leaders Fairwater

The Tuesday League remains fairly wide open, after Penarth Road produced what may have been the shock result of the season so far. They beat Fairwater, who had seemed back to form, and who may worry about their match next week against Mackintosh. A win for the Mack will certainly put them right back into title contention – a good win would actually put them top of the league at the two-thirds point of the season. Wonder what line-up they will manage to put out. Trecenydd seemed to have done the hard work in their match against County; they beat Luke Haines, and James Llewellyn, and in the other matches, Alan, Shaun and Jon all started as warm favourites. But County, in not fine style but with dogged determination, took all three to give themselves top spot this week, though they know it cannot last. Special mention goes particularly to Macauley Cole, whose debut this season saw him beat last year’s runner up in the Tuesday Rankings.

Penarth BL will take more scalps as the season goes on, and gave the Uni another defeat, while Potters Bar, denied their brightest prospect, still took a frame from Mackintosh.
