Taffs Well end Rumney’s challenge but other rivals keep up the pressure

Taffs Well are still top of Division 1 with 3 games to go after a 4 – 1 win against Rumney BL which effectively ends the slim hopes that the Rumney side had of mounting a late charge for the title. Canton Libs Z continue to heap the pressure on Taffs Well as they also won 4 – 1 against Trec Wanderers to stay 3pts behind the leaders. Senghenydd are in 3rd after beating Canton Libs B 3 – 2 to drop a point on their rivals and are also 3pts off the top but still with that game in hand which could prove crucial. Cathays Cons beat Kiss Shot 3 – 2 to stay in 4th place. Finally Wellington Rileys won the derby match against Wellington Boot 4 – 1 to rise a place in the table for the time being as Wellington Boot have a game in hand. So with 3 weeks to go 3 sides have a real chance of picking up the league title, at the moment it is easy to say that it is advantage Senghenydd with that game in hand, however the last match of the season sees Taffs Well play Canton Libs Z in what could be a winner takes all situation.
