Champions lose opener to Canton Lins as Premier League kicks off

Some of the fancied teams from past years will have to work harder in future weeks to keep title hopes alive. Reigning Tuesday champions Fairwater went down by the odd frame to Canton, although the season’s highest break will be a good one if it tops the 87 already recorded by Kishan Hirani. Mackintosh cobbled together four players, won against Park, and Trecenydd started the season well with a confortable win over County Cons. The sides who will play more away games this year look set for a long season.

One frame that might have made interesting viewing was the battle between R. Humphries and T. Furnish, which ultimately helped to turn the match in Canton’s favour, while Penarth didn’t need some of their star names to turn over the side from Mackintosh Thursday, whose hopes may rest this season on another blinding year from one of the Carpenters.
