County made the move they needed to in the Tuesday League with a heavy win over Penarth Road, a result better than some County players expected, given recent form. They have now drawn 4 points clear of Trec, who had chances but slipped to defeat by the odd frame in 5 against Mack. But this week also featured the highlight of the league season as Kishan Hirani made 109 as a clearance. Mack had to win their game against Trecenydd to remain in with any hopes of taking the trophy back to the shed, but will need a heavy win in all remaining games to pass the three sides that lead them.
Fairwater’s defeat to Savoy was narrow and was despite Kishan’s brilliant effort.
Meanwhile, Potters Bar made up for the missed fixtures and deducted points with their best win of the season, over University, who fielded a much weakened side this week in comparison to last.
The league, barring some freakish results, is now finally confirmed as a five horse race (yes, Penarth Legion, you can still in theory pass the top side with 3 games to go) but County know that two games against Mack and Trec place the title in their own hands. Anyone remember what happened the last time that was the case for my team ….?!!
The new table reduces Potters’ Bar’s total by 6 points for a missed fixture at Savoy in week 23.
