Fairwater open up a gap with 5th win from 5 as rivals all beat each other

There’s daylight at the top of the Tuesday League, because Fairwater’s nerve held again, and they won another match by the odd frame. County, denied the presence of their self-styled talisman Rob Hayes, lost a winning lead at Trec, and now bridge the gap between first, and all of the many teams gathered on 15 and 16 points. Very few sides can boast a run of victories other than the leaders – almost all others have three wins to their name, and it’s missing out on the bonus point for those wins that has let Fairwater sneak clear. County host the champions next week, needing to be the first side to beat them if they are to keep the gap manageable.

Well done to Shane from Rileys, whose 55 break was a highlight of their second successive win, and to Penarth Road, who surprised a slightly weakened Mack side. Penarth Legion managed to select five players from their wealth of squad resources, and moved back towards the top end of the table, while Savoy maybe missed a chance to suggest themselves as contenders by slipping to defeat at Fairwater.
