The match of the night in Division One this week was potentially between 2nd placed Taffs Well and 3rd placed Rumney BL. However, it was a night that Rumney BL would like to forget as they went down 5 -0. The win now moves Taffs Well to joint top of the league alongside Senghenydd. In perhaps one of the “biggest shocks in the history of the Cardiff and District Snooker League”, Canton Libs B beat league leaders Senghenydd 4 – 1 up in the valleys, to record their “first ever victory over them”. Wins from John Collins and Dan Peacey continued their 100% records, added to first time winners this season Tony Chick and James Wigmore (with a 29 break) to wrap up the unexpected victory. This victory has now put Canton Libs B in the dizzy heights of 4th. Kiss Shot continued their fine home record with a good 4 – 1 win over Cathays Cons to move into 3rd place 3 pts behind the top 2. Canton Libs Z took a much needed 5 – 0 win against Trec Wanderers ,after their disappointing loss last time out against Senghenydd, to move behind their fellow club mates in 5th place. Finally in the derby match between the two Wellington sides, the Rileys team edged a close 3 – 2 win against Wellington Boot, including a 31 break from Shane Virgin of Wellington Rileys.
After four weeks only 5 players have recorded a maximum 4 wins – John Collins, John Palkowski, Dave Standage, Keith Jenkins and Dan Lines. However 3 others follow with 3 wins out of 3.
