Taff’s Well have produced the result of the season so far to end Fairwater Cons’ unbeaten record with a surprise 4-1 victory at home to the champions. Ian Purnell won the opener against Twm Sion Jones, who was one of three Fairwater players to lose their 100% record on the night and Rhys Carpenter made it 2-0 with a win over Terry Garland. Kevin Brown’s win on the black against Steffan Davies put his side 3-0 ahead, before Steve Flanagan pulled one back against Glyn Jones. However, Rob Hayes comfortably beat Ben Griffiths in the final frame to seal a memorable win for the 2016 champions.

However, Fairwater Cons Mack failed to capitalise as they were defeated 3-2 at home to Mackintosh Snooker. Jerry Connors produced the individual highlight of the week with a superb 81 clearance to win the opening frame against Jacob Boyle. Another in-form player levelled things at 1-1 after Alan Hurley made a 57 break to beat Carlos Schiazza, and Khurram Khan put them 2-1 up with a win over Mike Nessbert. Billy Connors made it 2-2 with victory over Brian Rees and the deciding frame was won by Nathan Dunne for Mackintosh after he beat Ronnie Allen.

Canton Libs remain in third after they beat Cathays Cons 3-2 with Rory Wigmore and Ed Topham winning the first two frames against Ryan Bowgen and Martyn Evans respectively. Dave Earls pulled one back with a win over James Facey, but Declan O’Callaghan sealed the win after he beat Dave Standage before Darren Gill won a consolation frame against James Wigmore.

Beech Tree Hotel got back to winning ways with a 4-1 win at home to Rumney British Legion, with Dan Bridle defeating Tony Parkin in the opener, before Glyn Hayes won on the black against Tony Williams to make it 1-1. Mike Pardoe restored the lead with a win over Frank Deriu and Dai Rideout sealed the win with an emphatic win over Graeme Prance, before Chris Garwood finished things off with victory over Paul Chichester.

RBL Warriors won their second match of the season after they beat Roath Cons 3-2, but they had to come from behind after Phil Storer defeated Nick Davis. Clive Marsh levelled the match with a win over Rob Reid, before Andrew Champion restored Roath’s lead with a win over Ben Harding. Dave Richards made it 2-2 with victory over Presley Cornock and Jason Veal sealed the win after he defeated Lee Cornock in the decider.
