A brilliant 89 break from Alan Hurley was the highlight as Fairwater Cons Mack won 3-2 at Taff’s Well to move to the top of the Premier League as title rivals Fairwater Cons had a bye week. Jason Hewett got them off to a fine start with a 40 break enough to beat Jimmy Llewellyn, before Hurley made it 2-0 against Rhys Carpenter. Brian Rees then sealed the win with victory over Glyn Jones but Kevin Brown pulled one back after defeating Khurram Khan, before Rob Hayes won a close final frame versus Ronnie Allen to give the scoreline a more positive look for his side.

Cathays Cons maintained their winning run with a 4-1 defeat of Roath Cons with Jason Summerhayes winning the opening frame against Rob Reid, before Alan Wright levelled the match with a win over Mike Rathkey. Darren Gill then regained the lead for his side with a comfortable victory over Kerri Whiting and Dave Earls made sure of the win after he beat Andrew Champion, with Ryan Bowgen finishing things off with a close victory against Lee Cornock.

Jerry Connors started the Rumney British Legion v Mackintosh Snooker match with a bang after a 67 break against Graeme Prance, and Carlos Schiazza made it 2-0 for the Mack after he beat Andy Magill. Wins for Craig Bolton over Tony Parkin and Mike Nessbert against Glyn Hayes doubled their lead, before Nathan Dunne completed the whitewash after he beat Alex Ellis.

Beech Tree Hotel kept up their good form with a 4-1 win at home to RBL Warriors with wins for Dai Berkinshaw and Dan Bridle against Mike Watts and Ken Linsey respectively, before Craig Fletcher made it 3-0 after beating Chris Johnson. Nick Davis pulled one back with a win over Ciaran Paul before Dai Rideout won the last frame against Dave Richards.

Canton Libs got back to winning ways with a 3-2 defeat of Savoy, but had to come from behind after Mark Bennett won the opening frame against Ed Topham. James Facey made it 1-1 with a comfortable win over Colin Lane before Lee Greening restored Savoy’s lead after he defeated Rory Wigmore. One of the players of the season Declan O’Callaghan once again levelled the match after he beat Dave Hurn, but Luke Haines won the decider against Geoff Sheppard to give Canton the win.
