Fairwater Cons Mack have moved to the top of the Premier League after their 5-0 win over Roath Cons was coupled with title rivals Fairwater Cons losing 3-2 at Beech Tree Hotel to give them the advantage with only three games remaining. Brian Rees started the match strongly with a 49 break to defeat Rob Reid, before Jason Hewett’s 53 break was enough to comfortably beat Alan Wright to make it 2-0. Jacob Boyle’s win over Kerri Whiting sealed the win, before a 40 break from Khurram Khan was enough to defeat Andrew Champion and Alan Hurley’s close win over Lee Cornock finished things off for the Mack.

A match of high drama at Beech Tree featured what may be the latest finishing time for a CDSA fixture as the final frame was still being played as they approached midnight. Dan Bridle won a crucial opening frame against Twm Sion Jones and Ciaran Paul doubled their lead with a win over Steve Flanagan. Steffan Davies kept Fairwater in the match with victory over Mike Pardoe, but Dai Berkinshaw built an early lead over Shaun O’Connell and eventually won on the pink to give his side the win. However, every point is valuable in a title race and Ben Griffiths made sure of a consolation frame for Fairwater with a win on the colours against Dai Rideout.

Canton Libs kept themselves in the running for a third-place finish with a very good 5-0 win over Rumney British Legion, with Ed Topham and James Facey comfortably winning the opening frames against Paul Chichester and Andy Magill respectively. Tony Chick made it 3-0 after he beat Frank Deriu, before Declan O’Callaghan’s win over Alex Ellis and Luke Haines’ win over Albert Columbo completed the whitewash.

Taff’s Well maintained their good form as they look close to sealing the Division One title after a closely-fought 3-2 win at home to Mackintosh Snooker. Rhys Carpenter won the opening frame against Satinder Singh, but Carlos Schiazza levelled it at 1-1 after defeating Tom Cross. Craig Bolton put them ahead with victory over Jimmy Llewellyn, before the frame of the night saw Kevin Brown drop the black into the middle pocket from a tight angle to take the match to a decider and Rob Hayes won it for Taff’s Well with some solid potting to beat Nathan Dunne.

There was another close match at Rumney where the Warriors beat Savoy 3-2, but it was Savoy who won the opening frame as Mark Bennett beat Chris Johnson. A 39 break from Dave Richards levelled the match against Lee Greening, before Colin Lane put his side 2-1 up with victory over Simon Takata. Jason Veal’s win over Geoff Sheppard took the match to a deciding frame which won was by Nural Khan after he comfortably beat Jeff Lane.
