Fairwater Cons are back in contention for the Premier League title after beating the champions Fairwater Cons Mack 3-2 to close the gap on their rivals. However, Jason Hewett won the opener for the Mack against Twm Sion Jones thanks to a 52 break to maintain his perfect individual record after 9 matches. Rob McKenna hit back for Fairwater with a 58 break against Alan Hurley to make it 1-1, before the frame of the night saw Terry Garland defeat Jacob Boyle on the black. A close fourth frame saw Khurram Khan beat Steve Flanagan on the colours, before Steffan Davies won the decider for his side against Ronnie Allen to seal a crucial win.
Canton Libs maintain their second place position after a 3-2 win at Roath Cons, but they were made to work hard by an improving Roath side. Ed Topham won the opening frame against Andrew Champion for Canton, before Rory Wigmore won a high-scoring frame versus Alan Wright to double their lead. Clive Marsh pulled one back for Roath after he defeated James Wigmore, before James Facey kept up his impressive form with a comfortable win over Rob Reid, but Lee Cornock had the final word with a a consolation frame win against Luke Haines.
RBL Warriors edged Mackintosh for the final spot in the Premier League as the league splits into two divisions at halfway, despite a 3-2 loss at home to The Cons. Nural Khan got them off to a good start with victory over Darren Gill, but Dan Wardle won a close frame against Jason Veal to level the match at 1-1. Dave Earls is one of the form players in the league and he restored Canton’s lead after beating Chris Johnson, before Simon Takata took the match to a deciding frame after he beat Dave Standage. The decider was a very close affair with Martyn Evans winning on the black against Dave Richards, but the Warriors’ head-to-head record against Mackintosh gave them fifth place after they finished level on points.
Mackintosh lead the way at the top of Division One at the halfway stage as they won 3-2 away to Taff’s Well, and had to come from behind after Rhys Carpenter beat Eassa Din in a marathon frame. An excellent brown to black clearance from Nathan Dunne against Ian Purnell levelled things, before Jimmy Llewellyn’s defeat of Mike Nessbert restored Taff’s Well’s lead. Carlos Schiazza won a close frame against Kevin Brown to take it to a decider, and Craig Bolton won the match after beating Glyn Jones on the colours.
