Taff’s Well Warriors moved into contention for a semi-final spot in the League Cup following a 3-2 win over Caerphilly A, who were defeated for the first time this season in any competition. Rob McKenna won the opening singles frame for Caerphilly against Dave Richards, before Chris Johnson levelled the match with victory over Ian Denton. A 64 break from Nural Khan saw him defeat Mike Watts to make it 2-1, but Johnson and Geoff Sheppard combined to win a high-scoring doubles frame against Nural Khan and Rob McKenna to give the Warriors an excellent win and move them into joint-third place in the table.

The league matches saw big wins for several sides, most notably Fairwater Cons who defeated Roath Cons 5-0 to move seven points clear, albeit having played a game more than Caerphilly in second place. Twm Sion Jones and Terry Garland got Fairwater off to a great start with wins over Clive Marsh and Phil Storer respectively, before a 37 break from Dan Bridle won the next against Tony Storer. Shaun O’Connell’s win against Rob Reid made it 4-0, before the individual highlight of the match saw Steve Flanagan beat Andrew Champion thanks to a 45 break.

Taff’s Well suffered a big blow to their hopes of maintaining a title challenge following a 4-1 defeat at County Cons, with Ryan Bowgen beating Rhys Carpenter in the opening frame. Dave Earls then doubled County’s lead with a tremendous long pink to edge past Ian Purnell, before Dan Wardle won on the colours against Glyn Jones. Dave Standage beat Jimmy Llewellyn in the fourth frame, before a 41 break from Kevin Brown saw him win a consolation frame and move to the top of the individual rankings.

Mackintosh Snooker have pulled away at the top of Division One after a 5-0 whitewash of nearest challengers Macky Misfits, with wins for Harrison Fry against Jacob Boyle and Carlos Schiazza versus Satinder Singh in the opening two frames. Billy Connors’ defeat of Steve Wellbeloved made it 3-0, before wins for Mike Nessbert over Graeme Prance and Nathan Dunne against Bill Bainton capped things off for the Mack.

Rumney British Legion moved above Canton Libs into fourth place in the Premier League after a 4-1 victory, but they had to come from behind after Luke Haines beat Paul Chichester in the opener. Ben Harding levelled the match after defeating James Wigmore, before Ethan Chichester’s win on the colours against Ronnie Allen made it 2-1. Andy McGill beat Tony Chick to seal the win and a walkover for Glyn Hayes gave Rumney a very good result.
