Magical Morgan Keeps Caerphilly in Control

Breaks

Allan Morgan 80 (Caerphilly Cons)
Brian Rees 44 (Canton Warriors)
Jacob Boyle 35 (Macky Misfits)

Caerphilly A got back to winning ways after last week’s defeat against Fairwater, as they defeated Taff’s Well 4-1 at home to maintain a healthy lead at the top of the Premier League. They were made to work hard by Kevin Brown’s side though as a very tight opening frame was won on the black by Nural Khan against Rhys Carpenter. They quickly doubled their lead as an effortless 80 break by Allan Morgan saw him defeat Jimmy Llewellyn, before Khurram Khan comfortably beat Justin Jones to make it 3-0. Steffan Davies started the next frame strongly against captain Brown but he hit back to take the frame to the colours, before a long brown from Davies gave him the opportunity to clear the table and he won it on the black, but Rob Hayes secured a consolation point for Taff’s Well as he won a close frame against Ben Griffiths on the colours.

However, their lead at the top has been reduced by one point as title rivals Fairwater Cons won 5-0 at Roath Cons to close the gap to six points. Dan Bridle won the opening frame on the colours against Alan Wright, before Jason Hewett won another close frame versus Tony Storer to make it 2-0. Terry Garland’s tremendous season continues as he keeps his place at the top of the individual rankings with a 100% record, and he defeated Rob Reid to seal the win. Shaun O’Connell’s victory over Andrew Champion gave Fairwater a 4-0 advantage, before Twm Sion Jones beat Lee Cornock to complete the whitewash.

Mackintosh Snooker are one of the form sides in the league and they continued that with a 3-2 win at County Cons, but they had to come from 2-0 behind as Ryan Bowgen’s defeat of Eassa Din and Dave Earls’ win over Carlo Schiazza gave County the lead. However, Billy Connors’ victory against John Hicks pulled one back before Michael Nessbert’s close win over Dave Standage drew his side level and Nathan Dunne completed a brilliant comeback as he defeated Nick Bevan to gave the Mack the win.

Macky Misfits are enjoying a good season and a 3-2 win against Canton Libs puts them top of the newly formed Division One. Jacob Boyle won the opener against Kieran Madden thanks to a 35 break, but James Facey levelled the match for the Libs with his win over William Eades. Richard Duggan’s black ball win against Ronnie Allen gave the Misfits the lead, before Tony Chick took the match to a decider as he beat Satinder Singh, but Graeme Prance won it after beating James Wigmore.

Rumney British Legion made it back-to-back wins after they won 3-2 at Canton Warriors, with Ben Harding winning the first frame on the black against Simon Takata, and Ethan Chichester made it 2-0 as he defeated Jason Summerhayes, before a 44 break from Brian Rees saw him beat Frank Deriu to pull one back for the Warriors. Dave Richards’ win over Andy McGill levelled the match, but Paul Chichester won it for the Legion as he beat Andy Holman.
