Title Rivals on Top Form

Breaks

Jerry Connors 61 (Mackintosh)
Twm Sion Jones 59 (Fairwater Cons)
Allan Morgan 55 (Caerphilly A)
Nural Khan 49 (Caerphilly A)

Caerphilly A beat Macky Misfits 5-0 this week as they continue their pursuit of the Premier League title with Khurram Khan winning the opening frame against William Eades. A 55 break from Allan Morgan was enough to defeat Bill Bainton and Steffan Davies’s win over Steve Wellbeloved made it 3-0. Nural Khan beat Richard Duggan following a 49 break and captain Ben Griffiths completed the whitewash with victory on the colours against Renato Ridolini.

However, title rivals Fairwater Cons matched that result after they completed a 5-0 win at home to Rumney British Legion to ensure the gap remains at three points with five league matches left. Twm Sion Jones continued his impressive collection of breaks with a 59 to win the first frame against Glyn Hayes, before Jason Hewett doubled their lead after beating Frank Deriu. Terry Garland continued his 100% league record after defeating Paul Chichester and wins on the colours for Luke Pitman over Ben Harding and Shaun O’Connell versus Andy McGill completed a very good night’s work for the champions.

Mackintosh Snooker won a close contest against Canton Warriors 3-2, with Jerry Connors registering the highest break of the week with a 61 to beat Dave Richards. Carlo Schiazza made it 2-0 after his win over Mike Watts, but Jason Veal’s victory against Eassa Din pulled one back for the Warriors. Andy Holman’s defeat of Mike Nessbert took the match to a decider, but Nathan Dunne beat Simon Takata to edge the match for the Mack.

County Cons are back in the race for the Division One title as they took advantage of the Misfits’ defeat to beat Roath Cons 5-0 and close the gap at the top to four points. Suhayb Din won the opener against Alan Wright before wins for John Hicks and Martyn Evans versus Andrew Champion sealed the victory for County. Nick Davies defeated Lee Cornock to make it 4-0 and a walkover in the final frame for Dave Standage completed the whitewash.

At Taff’s Well, Rhys Carpenter beat Kieran Madden on the colours in the opening frame to give them the lead at home to Canton Libs, before Luke Haines levelled the match after defeating Jimmy Llewellyn. A display of sensational potting from James Wigmore saw him comfortably beat Glyn Jones to make it 2-1 to the Libs, but a 34 break from Kevin Brown drew his side level after his win over Ronnie Allen and Rob Hayes won the decider for Taff’s Well after a close win against Tony Chick.
