The 2025-26 CDSA Premier League title will be decided in a final day title showdown between Caerphilly A and Fairwater Cons as a remarkable season reaches its conclusion. The champions continued their outstanding run of 5-0 victories to move to the top of the table for the first time this season after they beat County Cons, whilst Caerphilly A defeated Rumney British Legion 3-2 to make it 16/17 wins, but with only one point between them the match will be winner-takes-all.
Two Cardiff Open winners opened up Caerphilly’s match, with Allan Morgan beating Rob Baker, before Khurram Khan defeated Paul Chichester to make it 2-0. Steffan Davies is one of only two players who can win the individual rankings and he sealed the match after beating Ben Harding, but wins for Ethan Chichester and Glyn Hayes against Nural Khan and Ben Griffiths respectively meant Caerphilly slipped to second place after leading the way since the opening day of the season.
Fairwater made it 39/40 frames to move to the summit and one of their players of the season, Twm Sion Jones won the opening frame versus Dave Standage, before Steve Flanagan beat Ryan Bowgen on the colours to make it 2-0. Terry Garland is one win away from the Player of the Year title as he maintained his 100% record after defeating Darren Gill, before Jason Hewett’s comfortable victory over Suhayb Din and Shaun O’Connell’s close win against Martyn Evans completed the whitewash and set up a monumental match at Caerphilly later this month.
The Division One title race is even closer as County Cons’ defeat to Fairwater gave Macky Misfits the chance to close the gap at the top as they travelled to Canton Warriors, but they had to come from 2-0 down as wins for Dave Richards against Graeme Prance and Simon Takata over Satinder Singh gave the Warriors an early lead. A 32 break from Jacob Boyle kept them in the match as he beat Andy Holman, before Bill Bainton’s win on the colours versus Jason Veal took the contest to a decider, but Mike Watts sealed the victory for the Warriors after beating Richard Duggan on the colours to leave the Misfits level on points with County Cons.
Mackintosh Snooker have secured third place in the Premier League as they beat fourth-placed Taff’s Well 3-2, with Eassa Din winning the opener against Jimmy Llewellyn. A win on the blue saw Carlo Schiazza defeat Justin Jones, before Billy Connors made it 3-0 following a close victory over Glyn Jones. Kevin Brown pulled one back for Taff’s Well after beating Mike Nessbert and Rob Hayes ensured a second consolation point as he defeated Nathan Dunne in another closely-fought frame.
Roath Cons notched up another win as they beat Canton Libs 3-2, with Andrew Champion beating James Wigmore in the first frame and Tony Storer made it 2-0 after defeating Rory Wigmore. Ronnie Allen reduced the deficit as he beat Chris Harding, and Tony Chick’s win over Alan Wright looked to have taken the match to a decider, but Rob Reid was awarded a walkover as Canton were unable to field a fifth player.
