Fairwater Cons on back on top of the Premier League as they beat Rumney British Legion 3-2 to move one point ahead of their title rivals Fairwater Cons Mack with only six matches remaining. However, they twice had to come from behind as first Paul Chichester beat Twm Sion Jones and then Albert Columbo defeated Steffan Davies, after Steve Flanagan levelled the match against Frank Deriu. Shaun O’Connell’s win over Andy Magill made it 2-2 and a 36 break from Ben Griffiths was enough to see off Tony Parkin and give Fairwater the win.

Beech Tree Hotel closed the gap on third-placed Cathays Cons after they won 3-2 at Savoy and Cathays lost at Mackintosh Snooker by the same scoreline. Mark Bennett won the opening frame for Savoy against Dan Bridle and Lee Greening made it 2-0 with victory over Ciaran Paul. Dai Berkinshaw pulled one back against Dave Hurn and Mike Pardoe levelled things after he beat Colin Lane, before Dai Rideout completed the excellent comeback after defeating Jeff Lane.

Mackintosh got off to a very good start against Cathays with victory for Satinder Singh against Jason Summerhayes, but Dave Earls restored parity after he defeated Craig Bolton. Carlos Schiazza put Mackintosh ahead with a win over Dave Standage, but Ryan Bowgen levelled the match at 2-2 after he beat Mike Nessbert and the match was finished off with a close win for Nathan Dunne against Darren Gill.

Taff’s Well took advantage of Savoy’s defeat to close the gap at the top of Division One after they won 3-2 at RBL Warriors, but Nural Khan put Chris Johnson’s side ahead with a 56 break with a century looking likely against Jimmy Llewellyn. Rhys Carpenter quickly levelled things with a win over Jason Veal, and Kevin Brown put Taff’s Well ahead with a win over Johnson. Dave Richards made it 2-2 after he defeated Glyn Jones, but Rob Hayes won the match after beating Nick Davis.

Canton Libs registered an emphatic 5-0 win at Roath Cons with wins for Luke Haines against Rob Reid and James Facey versus Phil Storer putting them two up. Ed Topham’s win against Alan Wright sealed the victory and Rory Wigmore made it 4-0 with a close defeat of Andrew Champion, and Declan O’Callaghan made it 5-0 despite a 38 break for his opponent Lee Cornock.
