With five league matches remaining, the title race looks like it will go all the way after both Fairwater sides registered 4-1 victories. Fairwater Cons are still one point ahead of their rivals after an impressive win at Cathays with Twm Sion Jones registering the highest break of the week with a 58 against Martyn Evans in the opening frame. Breaks of 37 and 24 were enough for Terry Garland to beat Jason Summerhayes and Steffan Davies made sure of the win after beating Darren Gill, who can count himself unlucky to snooker himself on the blue when it looked like he was going to clear the colours. Shaun O’Connell made it 4-0 after he defeated Mike Rathkey but Ryan Bowgen won the final frame for Cathays with a comfortable win over Ben Griffiths.

Fairwater Cons Mack matched that result at home to RBL Warriors with Jason Hewett winning a close opening frame against Dave Richards, before a 35 and 31 from Alan Hurley saw him beat Nick Davis to make it 2-0. Brian Rees kept up his excellent form with a 53 break against Mike Watts and Khurram Khan’s win over Chris Johnson put his side 4-0 ahead, but Nural Khan defeated Ronnie Allen to win a consolation frame for the Warriors.

Beech Tree Hotel are up to third place after a resounding 5-0 win against Roath Cons, with Dan Bridle getting them off to a good start against Rob Reid. Tony Williams then doubled their lead thanks to a 36 break against Kerri-Lee Whiting, before Craig Fletcher won a high-scoring frame versus Alan Wright to make it 3-0. Dai Berkinshaw’s victory over Andrew Champion then put them one frame away from the whitewash and Mike Pardoe sealed the match after beating Lee Cornock.

Canton Libs moved above Cathays into fourth place after they beat Mackintosh Snooker 4-1 with Rory Wigmore and James Facey winning the opening frames against Satinder Singh and Stephen Connors respectively. Declan O’Callaghan remains joint-top of the individual rankings after beating Carlos Schiazza, and a 44 break from Luke Haines made it 4-0 against Mike Nessbert, but Nathan Dunne won a consolation frame on the black in a high-scoring encounter against Tony Chick.

Taff’s Well won the top of the table clash in Division One after beating Savoy 3-2 to move above them into first place, but they had to come from behind as Mark Bennett won a close frame on the colours against in-form Kevin Brown. Ian Purnell levelled the match with a win against Alex Lane, before Rhys Carpenter put Taff’s Well 2-1 ahead after he defeated Colin Lane. The frame of the match saw Geoff Sheppard pot a superb black to beat Glyn Jones and take the match to a decider, but Jimmy Llewellyn won it for the home side against Jeff Lane.
