Jacob Boyle 53 (Macky Misfits)
Jacob Boyle maintained his 100% league record this week as an impressive 53 break saw him beat Rhys Carpenter to win the opening frame of Macky Misfits’ visit to Taff’s Well, but Jimmy Llewellyn’s win over William Eades levelled the match, before Justin Jones defeated Satinder Singh on the black to put Taff’s Well ahead. Bill Bainton’s win over Glyn Jones took the match to a decider, but Rob Hayes won a tight frame against Steve Wellbeloved the give his side the win.
Level with Boyle at the top of the individual rankings is Steffan Davies after he had a walkover against Canton Libs, but his side Caerphilly A had to come from behind after Luke Pitman defeated Rob McKenna in the opening frame. Khurram Khan’s victory over Ronnie Allen made it 1-1, which was followed by a very close win for Nural Khan against James Wigmore before Ben Griffiths completed the victory after he beat Tony Chick.
Champions Fairwater Cons remain seven points adrift after an excellent 4-1 win at Mackintosh saw them move back up to second place in the table. Dan Bridle won the opener against Jerry Connors, before Jason Hewett doubled their lead with a win over Billy Connors. Terry Garland’s defeat of Carlo Schiazza sealed the win, but captain Mike Nessbert pulled one back for the Mack before Luke Pitman capped off a very good team performance after beating Nathan Dunne.
With only two league matches remaining until the table splits at the halfway stage, Canton Warriors stay in fourth place after a 4-1 win away to Roath Cons. Dave Richards beat Andrew Champion in the opening frame, before Jason Veal won a black-ball frame against Rob Reid and Simon Takata’s defeat of Chris Harding made it 3-0. Tony Storer reduced the deficit with victory over Andy Holman, but Geoff Sheppard’s win on the black against Lee Cornock finished off a good night’s work for the Warriors.
County Cons started strongly against Rumney British Legion, with Dave Earls beating Paul Chichester and Ryan Bowgen defeating Ethan Chichester, before Ben Harding’s win over John Hicks pulled one back for Rumney. Glyn Hayes levelled the match after his win over Suhayb Din, but Martyn Evans won the deciding frame against Andy McGill to move County closer to the teams above them.
