Thomas and Rowlands complete first leg of double doubles attempt

In a topsy-turvy final, Sam Thomas and Ryan Rowlands of the Savoy were crowned Cardiff Pairs champions last week with a 3-2 win over team-mates Lee Greening and Mark Bennett. After winning the first frame, Sam and Ryan found themselves 2-1 and facing defeat, but made a comeback of their own to win 3-2 with a couple of 30 and 40odd breaks. Sam and Ryan will now face Kevin Brown and Tom Cross in the Handicap Pairs final to attempt to complete a double tournament win.

New Cardiff champion guaranteed with Carpenter going for double singles glory

This year’s singles and doubles competitions have reached the semi-final stage and it is confirmed that we will have a new Cardiff Champion this year after Huw Carpenter beat Spencer Symmons to reach his fourth semi-final. Indeed Huw is the only player of the four to have reached this stage before and will have a home tie against Terry Garland to seek to reach his first final. In the other semi-final two Barry players will face each other with Ryan Rowlands at home against Tom Davie in his first CDSL season.

Huw Carpenter is also in the semi-finals of the Handicap as he seeks a second title, as does Kishan Hirani. Graham Bailey and Mike Kinman make up the pairings.

Ryan Rowlands remains in three competitions altogether with two doubles semi-finals alongside Sam Thomas coming up, and one other player has reached the last four in both competitions.

Good luck to everyone all those remaining in the competitions.

Comp fees due by Friday – otherwise you will be scratched

A reminder that all competition fees are due immediately. Many fees have not yet been received. If the fees are not received by Friday then the responsible players will be scratched from the competition and excluded from future competitions.

A full list of those players for whom Spencer has not received payment is here:

This list may not be totally up to date for those that have sent payment recently.

And also don’t forget that the deadline for the last rounds of matches is Sunday night, Feb 2nd!

90% of comp fees unpaid & just 48 hours to complete first matches

A final reminder that you only have 48 hours to complete the first round of fixtures in the singles and doubles competitions.

Also 90% percent of people who have entered comps still haven’t paid their entrance fees. You have until the end of January to pay entrance fees.

Those that haven’t paid by then risk being scratched from the tournament and/or restricted from entering next years comps. Remember every single penny that comes in goes out in prize money so we urge everyone to contact me to make payment or prize money will be rubbish!

Entry fees can be:-
Dropped in an envelope to Spencer Symmons at Mackintosh (cash or cheque to CDSA)
Posted to my home address. (cash or cheque to Cardiff and District Snooker Association)
Paid directly into CDSA bank account (bank details on request)

Text 07717 173362 or email me cardiffdsl@gmail.com for addresses and bank details.
