Last week’s Division One joint leaders Taffs Well have taken a stranglehold on the league with a 2nd successive 5 – 0 win, this time over Wellington Rileys who only had 4 players, to open up a 4 point gap at the top. The other joint leaders from last week Senghenydd, slumped to a 2nd consecutive home defeat, this time to Wellington Boot 3 – 2. The highlight of the match was a 52 break from Mike Boucher of Senghenydd, to set the marker for the highest break prize. Senghenydd are now 2nd in the league. In the top game of the day 3rd placed Kiss Shot travelled to 4th placed and surprise package Canton Libs B. The result went in the way of Canton Libs B 3 – 2. This enabled Canton Libs B to leapfrog Kiss Shot in 3rd and to be just 2 points off Senghenydd after recording their 3rd consecutive win and their 2nd win against the top 3 teams in recent weeks. Canton Libs Z continue their recent form with a 3 – 2 win over Cathays Cons, finally Rumney BL beat Trec Wanderers 4 – 1 to step up the pace in the massive battle for the mid table positions. Next week denotes a third of the way through the league season and early indications are that this is going to be a very competitive season, may as well rename the league to Championship 2?
