Senghenydd close gap after Wellington no-show

Taffs Well’s lead at the top of Division One has been reduced this week as whilst they beat Canton Libs Z by the odd frame to win 3 – 2, Senghenydd closed the gap to only 2 points without having to pot a ball as Wellington Rileys failed to show and as a result they were deducted 6 points.

Kiss Shot move into 3rd place 6 points behind Senghenydd after a 4-1 win against Trec Wanderers. Canton Libs Z drop down to 4th a point behind Kiss Shot after their loss to Taffs Well. Rumney BL move into 5th place after a 3 – 2 win over Wellington Boot to head 3 teams on the same points and 1 point off Canton Libs Z. Cathays Cons improved to beat Canton Libs B to move up a place into 8th after Wellington Rileys points deduction. Finally Trec Wanderers prop up the table after a brave effort against Kiss Shot. At this stage of the season, there seems to be a pattern of the top 2 trying to break away from the rest of the league, the next 5 teams are separated by 2 points, and then a small gap to Cathays Cons and then a 7 point gap to the bottom 2 teams. It just needs one of the Mid Table teams to have a run of results to join the top 2 for a battle royale in the 2nd half of the season.

Dave Standage has kept his lead at the top of the player rankings after a close battle with Rory Wigmore of Canton Libs B to remain unbeaten on 7 wins out of 7. John Palkowski missed a chance to join Dave at the top after the Wellington Rileys no show this evening. Dan Peacey won again to keep up the pressure on after another victory to go 6 out of 6. Keith Jenkins of Wellington Boot lost ground after losing his first match of the season. James Wigmore’s victory puts him on the leaderboard for the first time this year after winning 4 of his 6 matches.

At the moment there are only 6 players with 100% records, but 2 of them have 3/3 and 1/1 respectively.
