Division One title race hots up as rivals close gap on Taffs Well

The Division One title race continues to be close. Senghenydd were the major beneficiaries of the week after they have closed the gap on Taffs Well to only 2 pts with an important game in hand after beating Trec Wanderers 5 – 0. Taffs Well slipped up against Wellington Boot 3 – 2, even a 49 break from Kevin Jones was not enough to help Taffs Well win the match. Canton Libs Z also benefited as they closed the gap to 3 pts with Taffs Well after beating Canton Libs B 4 – 1, could the final match of the season against Taffs Well be the title decider? Rumney BL have moved into 4th after a good 4 – 1 win over a faltering Kiss Shot side. It is Rumney BL that will have a final say in the where the title may end up as they still have to play the top 3 and if they continue their form they could drag themselves into the title race. Cathays Cons are a point adrift of Rumney BL after matching their score with a 4 – 1 win over Wellington Rileys. They still have to play Senghenydd and that may neutralize Senghenydd’s game in hand, so all to play for with for most teams 4 matches left, whilst others have 5.

David Standage from Cathays Cons is still top of the player rankings and looks very hard to beat and is 2 wins ahead of Kevin Jones, whilst Tony Palkowski is in 3rd place on 10 wins.
