The opening round of the Malcolm Keenor Trophy saw a number of close matches, as the league debuted its new individual handicaps rather than teams having a collective start in each frame, which seemed to result in lots of very close frames.
Savoy and Trecenydd Snooker lead Group A after both winning 4-1 against Cathays Cons and Senghenydd respectively, whilst Canton Libs Z won the derby 3-2 against the B side.
The match of the week took place in Group B at Llandaff as the Warriors overcame Fairwater Cons 3-2, despite the highest break of the season from Steffan Davies who made an impressive 69, with Ben Griffiths also contributing a break of 40. Mackintosh have taken an early advantage after Rumney British Legion failed to fulfil their fixture, whilst Taff’s Well won 3-2 at Cuesaders.
