Taff’s Well are top of their group in the Malcolm Keenor Trophy after an excellent 4-1 win away to champions Trecenydd Snooker. They had to come from behind after Nick Jones lost the opener against Chris Garwood, but wins for Jimmy Llewellyn and Glyn Jones against Dai Rideout and Tony Williams saw them take a 2-1 lead. Rob Hayes then beat Mike Pardoe to seal the win before Kevin Brown had a walkover to take his side to the top of the table with Trecenydd in second place.

Cathays Cons and Mackintosh Sports are all level on points and frame difference in third place after Cathays won their match 3-2, whilst Cuesaders Z are also in third following their 3-2 win over RBL Warriors. Ryan Bowgen won the first frame against Chris Johnson and a 48 break from Paul Chichester versus Ken Linsey made it 2-0. Dave Reynolds then beat Jason Veal to make sure of the win, but wins for Nick Davis against Bill Bainton and Mike Watts over Graeme Prance pulled two frames back for the Warriors.

In the Plate, Fairwater Cons have taken control of the group with a 3-2 win over Rumney British Legion saw them pull clear at the top, but the handicap meant a competitive match which started with a win for Steve Flanagan against Dave Bowgen after being 38 behind with only two reds remaining. Twm Sion Jones then doubled their lead by beating Alex Ellis, before Ben Griffiths won against Justin Behnan. However, Rumney finished strongly with Glyn Hayes defeating Shaun O’Connell and Andy Magill beating Steffan Davies.

Savoy won their first match of the Plate with a 4-1 win over Mackintosh Snooker with Mark Bennett beating Mike Nessbert in the opening frame, before Colin Lane won against Carlos Schiazza to make it 2-0. Satinder Singh then pulled one back with victory over Geoff Sheppard, but wins for Jeff Lane against Craig Bolton and Jason Summerhayes versus Nathan Dunne was enough to seal the win for Savoy.
