Trecenydd Snooker’s superb run of form continues after they registered their seventh consecutive win with a 3-2 victory away to Savoy, which has taken them up to fourth place in the Premier League. Chris Garwood’s side remain unbeaten in the league in 2022 and got off to a great start after Dan Bridle beat ex-professional Mark Bennett, before Dai Birkenshaw made it 2-0 with a win over Dave Hurn. Savoy then pulled one back after Lee Greening beat captain Garwood and Jason Summerhayes levelled the scores after defeating Mike Pardoe, but Kristian Crocker made sure of the 3-2 win with victory over Geoff Sheppard in the decider.

Fairwater Cons’ relentless defence of their title saw them whitewash Cuesaders Z 5-0 to maintain their lead at the top of the table. Twm Sion Jones won the opener against Ryan Bowgen thanks to a 39 break, with Ben Griffiths showing why he’s leading the individual rankings to make it 2-0 versus Paul Chichester. Terry Garland wrapped up the win by beating Rob Richards followed by Steffan Davies defeating Dave Reynolds, before an excellent example of sportsmanship from Bill Bainton handed the final frame to Steve Flanagan. After a battle on the colours their frame went down to the black with Bainton eyeing up a long pot for the win, but he feathered the cue ball which hadn’t been noticed by anyone else and called the foul on himself to round off the win for Fairwater.

Mackintosh Sports continue to stay on Fairwater’s heels with an excellent 5-0 win away to Cathays Cons to remain three points behind the leaders, and their strong opening pair of Jason Hewett and Alan Hurley put them 2-0 up after wins over Johnny Davies and Dan Jones respectively. Khurram Khan made it 3-0 with a win over in-form Dave Standage, before Brian Rees defeated Dave Earls and Ronnie Allen beat Mike Rathkey to give them maximum points.

Taff’s Well also managed a 5-0 win this week after beating RBL Warriors to gain ground on Cathays at the foot of the Premier League. Nick Jones won a close opening frame against Syed Moshin Kazmi, before some excellent potting from Jimmy Llewellyn saw him comfortably beat Chris Johnson. Rhys Carpenter then defeated Nick Davis before Tom Cross won against Mike Watts. Rob Hayes then completed the win with the individual highlight of the week after he beat Jason Veal, but may feel he missed a chance for the season’s first century break. Looking good on a break of 48 and with plenty of reds still available, Hayes was unfortunate not to land on anything after going into the pack off the black, but it was enough to seal the frame and the win for Taff’s Well.

Canton Libs and Mackintosh Snooker contested the closest match of the week with James Wigmore’s side edging it 3-2 to keep them in contention for the title, but they had to work to overcome their opponents who move to the top of Division One despite the defeat. Jerry Connors got his side off to a flyer with a heavy defeat of Ed Topham, before Craig Bolton won comfortably against James Facey to make it 2-0. Canton were staring defeat in the face but fought back with wins for Luke Haines against Carlos Schiazza and Declan O’Callaghan over Mike Nessbert to take it to a decider. However, it was a scrappy affair as both captain Wigmore and Nathan Dunne missed chances, but a very good blue, followed by a long pink gave Wigmore a tough black down the cushion, which he sank to give his side a potentially important win in the race for the title.
