Trecenydd Snooker’s excellent run of form continued this week beating champions Fairwater Cons 4-1 after a closely-fought contest. Dan Bridle edged a quality encounter against Twm Sion Jones to gave them an early lead, but Terry Garland won on the black to level the match against Mike Pardoe. Dai Birkenshaw put his side 2-1 up with victory over Steffan Davies on the brown, before Tony Williams beat Shaun O’Connell on the pink to seal the win, with Chris Garwood making a 36 break in defeating Steve Flanagan to round off a great night’s work for his side.
Canton Libs took the opportunity to close the gap on their title rivals after they beat Cuesaders Z 4-1 at home. Ed Topham won a close opening frame over Ryan Bowgen, before Rory Wigmore made it 2-0 against Paul Chichester. James Facey then comfortably beat Mike Kinman and Luke Haines edged a tight frame against Bill Bainton to make it 4-0, although a whitewash was averted after Graeme Prance won the battle of the captains with an excellent blue and pink to defeat James Wigmore.
Mackintosh Snooker have extended their lead at the top of Division One after they won 4-1 at Taff’s Well, with Satinder Singh and Craig Bolton giving them a 2-0 lead with wins over Rhys Carpenter and Nick Jones respectively. Jimmy Llewellyn pulled one back against Mike Nessbert but Carlos Schiazza overcame Glyn Jones and Nathan Dunne defeated Rob Hayes to give them a deserved win.
RBL Warriors won their derby match 4-1 against Rumney British Legion, who remain winless in the league this season. Simon Takata won the opener against Ben Harding, before Albert Columbo levelled things up with a win over Ken Linsey. Nick Davies then beat Tony Parkin to make it 2-1 and wins for Chris Johnson over Frank Deriu and Jason Veal versus Alex Ellis was enough to seal the victory.
Savoy’s disappointing campaign continues after a 4-1 loss at home to Cathays Cons, although they were in front after Jason Summerhayes beat Johnny Davies. Wins for Darren Gill against Dave Hurn and Mike Rathkey over Lee Greening put them ahead, before Dave Standage’s impressive season continues after he beat Jeff Lane and Dave Earls finished things off with a win over Geoff Sheppard.
