Twm Sion Jones 42 (Fairwater Cons)

Fairwater Cons Mack are the 2022-23 Malcolm Keenor Trophy winners after a 3-0 win against Cantons Libs in the final to seal a league and cup double. The opening frame saw captain Ronnie Allen drawn against Rory Wigmore with the frame sealed on the colours, and Brian Rees put them 2-0 up after he defeated Declan O’Callaghan with an outstanding black to disturb the last two reds being the highlight of the match. Canton knew they needed to win the next to keep the match alive and James Wigmore took the frame against Jason Hewett to the colours, but a sensational long blue finished things off and won the match for Ronnie Allen’s side.

Fairwater Cons have won the CDSA Plate after the defeated Savoy 3-1 with a 42 break from Twm Sion Jones enough to win the opening frame against Mark Bennett. Steffan Davies doubled their lead with victory over Jeff Lane, but Lee Greening pulled one back against Shaun O’Connell and it looked like a decider was on the cards as Dave Hurn had the opportunity to clear up against Ben Griffiths. A superb pink-to-black positional shot gave him the chance of potting it down the cushion but he jawed the black to leave a difficult long pot, which the 2022 Player of the Year thundered in to win the trophy for Steve Flanagan’s side.
