RBL Warriors were the only team to take advantage of a bye week for Fairwater Cons Mack and Taff’s Well this week, after they moved up to fourth in the table following a 3-2 win over last year’s runners-up Fairwater Cons. However, they had to come from behind after Rob McKenna won the opening frame against Chris Johnson, but Nick Davies struck back with victory over Ben Griffiths in a high-scoring frame. Unbeaten Steffan Davies then restored his side’s lead with a win over Andy Holman, but a 55 break from Nural Khan levelled things against Shaun O’Connell, and Dave Richards won a tense decider on the black against Terry Garland to win the match for the Warriors.

Canton Libs lost ground on the leaders after a 3-2 defeat away to Mackintosh Snooker, despite holding a 2-0 lead following wins for Rory Wigmore and Luke Haines over Satinder Singh and Billy Connors respectively. However, the Mack won the crucial third frame after captain Mike Nessbert beat James Wigmore, before Carlos Schiazza comfortably beat James Facey to take the match to a deciding frame and Nathan Dunne completed the comeback after defeating Tony Chick to give them the win.

The Cons also suffered a 3-2 defeat after they lost to Rumney British Legion, with Paul Chichester beating Ryan Bowgen, before Dave Earls kept up his impressive form to move joint top of the rankings with victory over Justin Behnan. Glyn Hayes has also started the season very strongly and his win against Dave Standage put Rumney 2-1 ahead, but Darren Gill’s defeat of Alex Ellis took another match to a deciding frame with Andy Magill beating Martyn Evans to lift Rumney up into joint-sixth place.

Beech Tree Hotel registered their third win of the season with a 4-1 defeat of Roath Cons, but after their six-point deduction in Week 1 they remain near the foot of the table. Ieuan Simms started the match with a win over Rob Reid and Dan Bridle’s 38 break contributed to him doubling his side’s lead after he beat Jack Whiting. Mike Pardoe made it 3-0 with a win over Clive Marsh, but Andrew Champion pulled one back against Dai Rideout before Ciaran Paul finished off a good night’s work for his side with a win against Lee Cornock in the final frame.
