Web site improvements and fixtures released

This year’s fixtures for the league and cup have now been added to the website, which gives me an opportunity also to highlight some of the new features on the site for this year. Follow the green links in this post to see example pages.

As previously stated the season curtain raiser is the one night Shootout on Sept 12th, with Steffan Davies aiming to retain his crown from 2022. The league campaign begins on Sept 19th.

Using a new software this season means every fixture will be a page in itself, with details of who played and won, and these will automatically calculate player records which will appear on the individual player’s page, along with previous seasons. Eventually I will add more honours onto the individual player pages.

There is a new calendar page now for all CDSA fixtures, but also individual team pages contain individual fixture lists for each team along with handicaps and stats. The league table also includes your team’s next fixture for ease of reference and there will be a more detailed table available with home and away records.

As a result of the rankings being automatically calculated this means every player’s record will be available on the site via either the team, player or rankings list. There is also a new stat – the percentage of matches won by your team when you are playing, for those of you who fancy yourselves as the Rodri of the team.

There will be some knock-on improvements to the singles and doubles pages, with links to each player’s page. And every final will have it’s own page

I’m still finalising the setup for the new season and there may be a few corrections to make, also handicaps are not yet updated.

You will have noticed earlier in the year I updated the overall look and feel of the site. In case you weren’t aware if you click on the moon icon you can switch the site into dark mode, which I know is preferred by some users. Behind the scenes I have also transferred over to a new website host.

So please do let me know if you have any feedback or encounter any issues. But I hope you find this an improved experience for this season.
