Caerphilly A have moved to the top of the Premier League with just three league matches left to play after they beat County Cons 4-1 to take advantage of their game in hand over leaders Fairwater Cons. However, they had to come from behind as a 40 break from Ryan Bowgen saw him comfortably beat Steffan Davies, before Allan Morgan’s win over Dan Wardle levelled the scores. An excellent 61 break from Rob McKenna against Darren Gill put Caerphilly 2-1 ahead, before captain Ben Griffiths sealed the win after defeating Martyn Evans which featured a 40 break, and Nural Khan completed the win after beating Mike Rathkey.

The race for the Division One title has tightened after leaders Mackintosh Snooker lost a close match 3-2 at home to Taff’s Well. A very long opening frame was won by Billy Connors against Rhys Carpenter, but Tom Cross made it 1-1 with victory over Carlos Schiazza. A fine potting display from Mike Nessbert which featured a 30 break saw him defeat Jimmy Llewellyn, before Kevin Brown consolidated his position at the top of the individual rankings after he beat Eassa Din in a frame decided on the colours, and Rob Hayes won the decider against Nathan Dunne to give Taff’s Well the win.

Macky Misfits took advantage of the Mack’s defeat as they won 4-1 at Taff’s Well Warriors, with a close opening frame won by Satinder Singh against Chris Johnson. Jacob Boyle’s 56 break in the next was the highlight of the match as he beat Dave Richards, before Andy Holman reduced the deficit after his win over Steve Wellbeloved. Bill Bainton made it 3-1 for the Misfits after he beat Mike Watts and Graeme Prance completed the win after defeating Simon Takata.

Rumney British Legion kept up their good recent form with a 5-0 win at home to Roath Cons, as wins for Ben Harding and Paul Chichester against Phil Storer and Alan Wright respectively maintained their very good individual form, before Andy McGill’s win on a repotted black against Tony Storer made it 3-0. Tony Parkin won the next against Rob Reid and the whitewash was completed by Ethan Chichester following his win over Andrew Champion.

Fairwater Cons have qualified for the semi-finals of the League Cup after a 5-0 win over Canton Libs, with Dan Bridle winning the opening singles frame against Luke Haines. Steve Flanagan won a close second frame versus James Wigmore, before Luke Pitman made it 3-0 after defeating Ronnie Allen, but the match finished in fine style with the doubles frame between Shaun O’Connell and Jason Hewett against Wigmore and Tony Chick featuring a 74 break from Hewett (which is the highest league or cup break of the season) to seal the match for Fairwater.
