Cuesaders Dominate Mack Derby

Breaks

Rob Baker 53 (Macky Cuesaders)
Gary Prosser 41, 35 (County Cons)

Macky Cuesaders moved up to a share of third place in the Premier League this week after a 5-0 whitewash against Macky Misfits saw them draw level with Market Street A and Mackintosh Snooker. Jacob Boyle started the match strongly with a comfortable win against Steve Wellbeloved, before the highest break of the week saw Rob Baker defeat Nadeem Tariq thanks to a fluent 53 break to double their lead. Wins for Logan Rawlings and Ronnie Allen versus John Moore and William Eades respectively made it 4-0, and Clive Marsh completed a very good night’s work for the Cuesaders with victory over Bill Bainton.

Mackintosh got back to winning ways as they won 4-1 at home to Canton Warriors, but found themselves 1-0 down as Nick Davies won the opener versus Deepak Singh. A comfortable win for Carlo Schiazza against Andy Holman drew the Mack level, before captain Mike Nessbert put them 2-1 up with a win over Luke Sheppard. Brian Rees sealed the victory after his defeat of Geoff Sheppard and Nathan Dunne won a close final frame against Mike Watts.

The form team in the league are Fairwater Cons after they won 3-2 at Cathays Sports to make it three wins in a row for last year’s runners-up, but they had to come from behind after a tremendous performance from James Facey saw him become the first player to defeat Twm Sion Jones this season. Steve Flanaghan levelled the match after beating Chris Harding and Jason Hewett put Fairwater ahead after an entertaining win over Tony Storer that saw good potting from both players. Shaun O’Connell sealed the win after defeating Alan Wright, but Lee Cornock closed the gap to one frame for Cathays after an excellent 28 break to the blue saw him defeat Dan Bridle.

The result of the week came at County Cons as Dave Standage’s side defeated league leaders Market Street A to move into mid-table, with Ryan Bowgen winning the opening frame against Adrian Webber. Gary Prosser is one of the standout players so far this season and remains unbeaten after a 35 break against Mike Sherrin was followed with a 41 clearance, before Satinder Singh put County 3-0 ahead after beating Alan Cook. However, Market Street pulled two frames back as Craig Hellinger maintained his 100% record with victory against Suhayb Din and Colin Harding made the scoreline respectable after beating captain Standage in the final frame of the night.

Caerphilly A bounced back after defeat last week with a 5-0 win over Rumney British Legion, with Rob McKenna winning a high-scoring first frame versus Ben Harding. Another points-fest saw Khurram Khan double their lead with victory over Paul Chichester, before Ben Griffiths beat Ethan Chichester and Nural Khan’s defeat of Carl Galloway made it 4-0. The final frame of the night saw Steffan Davies complete the whitewash after his win against Andy McGill to move the champions to within three points of the leaders Taff’s Well, who replace Market Street at the top after they had a 5-0 walkover over Canton Libs who were unable to fulfil the fixture.
