The Premier League could be the most closely fought league in living memory – four points are all that separates the team in second from the team in ninth. But at the top, after another 4-1 win, this time over Trecenydd, Savoy continue their serene progress, seemingly drawing clear to a point that might concern chasers, as there are fewer league games to play this year.
Best result of the night was a 5-0 win for Penarth, who were again without their (increasingly absent?) skipper, over Canton A, but other good wins came for Mackintosh B over Park, never an easy venue to win well at, and County over Mackintosh A. South Wales Snooker picked up another frame in their match against Fairwater, but Fairwater might well be thinking they are best placed to chase another title, if they can just overcome the issue of playing more away games than at home this year.
Strange week, with big wins for the sides positioned seventh, eighth and ninth ahead of last night’s play, but no disputing the top side.
Breaks this week were reported to have been a 46 by Rhys Carpenter, 35 clearance at the Mack by an unnamed player.
