Canton Libs A closed the gap at the top of the table after a tense 3-2 victory over the leaders Taff’s Well B in a match that finished close to midnight. The contest was a close, tight affair with wins for Luke Pitman, Kishan Hirani and Steve Flanagan for the home side, whilst Huw Carpenter and Tom Cross responded for the visitors. The win coupled with Canton’s 3-2 win over Park Cons in their rearranged match earlier in the week means they’ve closed the gap on the leaders to just five points.
The form side in the league though are Savoy who sealed their sixth consecutive win 3-2 against Cathays Cons to put them only a point behind Canton Libs A and six points adrift of Taff’s Well B. The conclusion to the league looks likely to be very exciting as all three sides have some difficult matches remaining.
Canton Libs Z continued their recent good form with a 3-2 victory at Cuesaders, whilst Rumney British Legion won by the same scoreline against Park Cons. Senghenydd got back to winning ways with a whitewash of South Wales Snooker, and Canton Libs B’s match against Taff’s Well A is postponed until next week.
The league takes a break for a week for the Handicap Cup Semi-Finals in what promises to be an entertaining evening at Canton Libs, but with only a month left the title race looks like it’s going to the wire.
