Tomkins makes Tuesday best so far whilst Fairwater regain lead

Neil Tomkins hit the highest Tuesday League break of the season against Savoy last night in a near-perfect frame, making a 39 then clearing with an 88 in just two visits in Penarth’s win over a slightly understrength Savoy side.  Some good breaks this week – Kishan also beat 50 for Fairwater.

In the big match of the week, County Cons Rob Hayes lost his second decider of the season against the Mackintosh. Fairwater return to the top after a solid win over the students, while the battle at the bottom went the way of Penarth Road, who needed the in-form Chris Richards to tame Travis in the decider, as I understand it, which he duly did. Mack now have a chance to move above County into second, but their game in hand, in two weeks’ time, as County sit out, is under threat of postponement, and will be viewed by Fairwater as a chance to re-stamp their authority on the league after two shaky weeks.

Spencer was the big winner in the player rankings as he moved into first place following defeats by Tom Cross and no game for Mark Bennett. Alan Cook, John Moore, Craig Davis and Terry Garland all won their ninth games of the season and kept up their impressive 75%+ records.
