Graeme Prance’s 40 and Neil Tomkins’s 50 for Mackintosh and Penarth Legion were not enough to send them to the top of the Tuesday League, but it’s looking mighty condensed up there. The only unbeaten side after three weeks are the reigning champions Fairwater, and they lead the way by a single point, but their wins have been quite narrow, while County drop to second after a beating by University. Could have been worse, as the students led 3-0, and County had to scramble to get any points from the match.
Frame of the night must have been at Penarth BL, where Sam Thomas’ 30-odd woke a sleeping dragon, and Neil hit back with the first half century of the Tuesday League season.
Penarth Road are earning a lot of respect from opponents, but not yet converting their stylish play into results, while Taff’s Well and Rileys are still looking for their first wins. University, like four other sides, have won two games, but trail Savoy, who have won only one, since Savoy’s defeats were narrower.
Hope others might join with me in expecting this to develop into a cracking season, with no team unable to beat any other. Good luck next week to all.
