Huw Carpenter sealed a hat-trick of Cardiff Handicap Singles with his third title in eight years after beating defending champion John-Henry Griffiths 4-1 at Canton Liberal Club.

He started well to win the first, which was followed by a 41 break to give him a 2-0 lead before Griffiths hit back to claim the third.

However, Carpenter won the crucial fourth frame before sealing the victory in the fifth to claim the title.
