The first round of the Malcolm Keenor Trophy saw a night of shocks and close matches as the random draw and handicaps was a great leveller for players of all abilities.

Holders Trecenydd Snooker are safely through to the group stages after a 3-1 win away to Mackintosh Snooker, whilst Cathays Cons knocked out Premier League champions Fairwater Cons with a comfortable 3-0 win.

The 2019 winners Savoy are entering the Plate after losing 3-2 to RBL Warriors and Taff’s Well overcame Rumney British Legion by the same margin, and Mackintosh Sports maintained the only unbeaten record this season with a 3-0 win over Canton Libs.

The winning teams now enter a six-team group to decide the finalists for the Malcolm Keenor Trophy, with the five losing sides qualifying for the Plate competition.
