Fairwater Cons Mack have one hand on the Premier League title after a 4-1 away win to The Cons extended their lead at the top of the table. Brian Rees got them off to a good start after beating Ryan Bowgen, and Jason Hewett doubled their lead against Dan Wardle thanks to a 33 break. Wins for Alan Hurley against Mike Rathkey and Khurram Khan versus Dave Standage made it 4-0, before Dave Earls won a consolation frame on the black against Ronnie Allen.

Fairwater Cons moved into second place after a 3-2 win at Taff’s Well, with Rob McKenna winning the opener against Ian Purnell. Steve Flanagan doubled their lead with a scrappy win on the black against Rhys Carpenter, before a 31 break helped Jimmy Llewellyn pull one back versus Terry Garland. The win looked almost certain for Fairwater when Shaun O’Connell raced into a 50-point lead early on, but Glyn Jones produced one of the comebacks in recent memory to score 40 unanswered points to take the frame to the colours, and following an in-off on the brown from O’Connell, Jones held his nerve to clear and complete an incredible victory and level the match at 2-2. The decider was somewhat of an anti-climax though as a solid performance from Steffan Davies comfortably beat Rob Hayes to give his side the win.

RBL Warriors kept their chance of a runners-up spot alive as they beat Roath Cons 3-2 with a 36 break from Nural Khan against Rob Reid putting them ahead. Jason Veal made it 2-0 after a close win over Andrew Champion, before Phil Storer kept Roath in the match with a win over Chris Johnson. Clive Marsh’s defeat of Mike Watts took the match to a decider, which was won by Geoff Sheppard against Lee Cornock.

Mackintosh Snooker have moved back to the top of Division One as they beat Rumney British Legion 4-1 to take advantage of The Cons’ defeat. Eassa Din won the opening frame against Justin Behnan, before Craig Bolton’s win over Alex Ellis made it 2-0. Billy Connors sealed the win for the Mack after defeating Andy Magill, but Paul Chichester pulled one back with a victory over Mike Nessbert, before Nathan Dunne finished things off after beating Grame Prance.

Caerphilly Cons are in second place after they won 4-1 away to an under-strength Canton Libs. Dan Bridle’s win against Luke Haines and victory for Mike Pardoe over James Facey gave them the perfect start, before James Wigmore beat Dai Rideout to reduce the deficit. The fourth frame was the final of the night as Canton didn’t have a fifth player, and it was won by Caerphilly as Ciaran Paul defeated Tony Chick to keep pace with Mackintosh at the top of the table.
