The CDSA 2024-25 AGM and Presentation Night took place on Friday 27th June 7pm at Canton Liberal Club.
AGM OF THE CARDIFF AND DISTRICT SNOOKER LEAGUE
MINUTES (2025)
The roll call was completed and all teams were present.
Kevin Brown delivered his Chair’s report and noted what a competitive season it had been across all tournaments and thanked everyone for another hard-fought year with matches played in the right spirit.
James Llewellyn delivered the Secretary’s report and thanked everyone for a very competitive season with a tremendous title race and superb Malcolm Keenor cup final.
Darren Gill delivered the Tournament Secretary’s report and thanked players for ensuring matches were played promptly and very few issues were reported for the organising of matches, as well as celebrating so many different players reaching individual and pairs finals.
James Llewellyn delivered the Treasurer’s report in the absence of Twm Sion Jones. From a carried over balance of £347, there was £500 in team fees along with £504 in competition entries which was a record amount, and £500 sponsorship from Ronnie Allen, whose ongoing contribution was noted and appreciated and it was announced that this sponsorship would continue into next season. The balance carried over to next season is £63 as two new annual trophies had been purchased for the Plate and Plate Singles.
Registration of new teams was confirmed from Canton Libs, Taff’s Well, Fairwater, Roath Cons, Caerphilly A, Rumney British Legion, Mackintosh Snooker, Taff’s Well Warriors, County Cons, and Macky Misfits.
Nominations for committee members took place and all current committee members were elected, but a reminder was given that the committee would welcome new members.
James Llewellyn outlined the four proposals to be discussed and they were voted on as follows –
– Handicaps for competitions and cups should be reviewed and set by the committee at the start of the season, with a mid-season review only for new players to the league. Passed 10-0 votes.
– Reigning champions can enter the following year’s competitions even if they haven’t played the minimum of three matches since the start of the season. Rejected 10-0 votes.
– Players must have played in a minimum of three league or cup matches that season in order to play in a semi-final or final of a cup/plate competition. Amendment of five matches passed 10-0 votes.
– Handicaps for doubles to round to nearest 1 rather than nearest 7. Passed 10-0 votes.
The evening concluded with a buffet and presentation of awards, with all photos on the Gallery page of the website.
