A two week update for the Thursday League, with The New Park now just 6 points behind Canton Libs A after a shock defeat against Trec B.
Week 26
Is Canton Libs A title challenge on the rocks?, with 10 games left of the season they were 16 pts ahead of The New Park. The lead is now down to just 6pts courtesy of The New Park beating a tricky Taffs Well side 3-2 and Trec B shocking Canton Libs A 4-1 to record back to back defeats. Surely they can’t do a Newcastle and blow it? This may make the last match of the season a cracker between the top two sides. Senghenydd recorded another 5-0 win over Rumney BL as the Thursday League team KO finalists are trying to finish as high up the table as possible. Cathays Cons recorded a shock 4-1 win over Canton Libs B to enchance their chances of avoiding the wooden spoon. Savoy beat Canton Libs Z 4-1 in the battle for mid table supremecy. Elsewhere there were wins for Roath Labour, No Balls and a welcome win from the University all winning 3-2 against SWS, Trec C and Gower respectively.
Week 25
The New Park gained further ground on Canton Libs A by beating Savoy 4-1 compared to Canton Libs A beating a determined University side 3-2. As it stands Canton Libs A will be awarded the title if they pick up at least 22 pts from their remaining games. Taffs Well and Senghenydd had the best results of the night winning 5-0 against Canton Libs B and Roath Labour respectively to open up the battle for 3rd place. Rumney BL continued they good run of form by beating Cathays Cons 4-1. Elsewhere there were 3-2 wins for SWS, No Balls and the ever improving Trec C who beat Trec B, Canton Libs Z and Gower respectively.
