The competitiveness of this year’s league was illustrated this week after all but one match was decided by the odd frame. Fairwater Cons are joint top of the Premier League after they were the team to buck the trend by registering a 5-0 win over Park Club, whilst they are joined at the summit by Taff’s Well B who won 3-2 at Trecenydd despite only having 4 players available.
The result of the season so far was at Canton as the B team beat defending champions Savoy 3-2 in an extraordinary match, with every frame going all the way to the black, including the decider on a respot! One of the closest matches in years finished with Tony Chick sinking the vital pot and winning the match for James Wigmore’s side.
Senghenydd maintained their 100% start to the season with a 3-2 win over Mackintosh to join Savoy in third place, and will now look forward to their big clash at Taff’s Well B next week.
Canton Libs Z kept up their outstanding start to the season with an excellent 3-2 win at Cuesaders to move clear at the top of Division One, whilst Rumney British Legion matched that scoreline at Mackies Lost Boys to register their first win of the year.
